Sonoma Index-Tribune

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit in the Spring of 2020, I was forced to move out of my dorm room in San Diego and head back to my hometown of Sonoma, California. Knowing I still wanted to continue to grow my skills as both a writer and journalist, I began a summer internship with the Sonoma Index-Tribune. Working for my hometown paper was an excellent learning experience as I learned the inner working of a newsroom and how to work with a team of journalists.

I could try my hand and nearly every job available as I took photos, copy-edited, and wrote my own stories which included business profiles, features, and personality profiles. While I consider my writing skills to have vastly improved since this experience, this internship was a foundational step in my journalism career. Below I have linked some of my favorite articles that I wrote during my time at the IT.
